A Trip I’ll Never Forget - Casa Lamia is 10/10

My stay was unreal. The service was so friendly, warm and accommodating. The room was spacious and stunning. We were a quick walk from the beach and Casa Lamia’s restaurant was fabulous - the dishes and drinks were amazing! breakfast was always new each day and so delicious. Can’t wait for an excuse to go back! The stay was amazing from start to finish.

Still needs a lot of work

Casa Lamia has great service, but the rooms were fairly incomplete. There was no where to unpack a bag, hang clothes, or store anything. The rooms are nice looking and clean, but hooks to hang something, a table to use or luggage racks, a dresser or anything similar would be helpful considering how humid everything is there. The construction is quite weak, it rained a lot and our ceiling leaked in one room, the floor leaked in another around the toilet. The staff was helpful and the food was really good, but the staff eats in same room as the guests and are often sitting around taking breaks. It doesn't feel very professional and it's quite awkward asking them for help when they're sitting there eating in front of you. For the price, I think there are lot better options in the area.

They decorated the room beautiful to propose to my girlfriend. The moroccan tent with jacuzzi was spectacular and service was outstanding. I’m vegan and they made all dishes and breakfast vegan for me. Outstanding customer service. Highly recommend!

This was our twelfth anniversary and we wanted to do something really special and Casa Lamia’s was it! The staff first welcomed us with a fully decorated room, a bottle of champagne and a welcoming sign wishing us a happy anniversary. Make sure you book in advance! We were lucky to not only experience their beautifully spacious Bungalows but we also booked a few days in their exclusive Luxury Tent rooms fit with your own private jacuzzi overlooking the rainforest. Each morning we were able to eat the included breakfast by the Jacuzzi. The Air Conditioning (which is always important to me) kept the room nice and cold. The water pressure was excellent as well! The restaurant was amazing, the best we had throughout our entire stay in Costa Rica and as foodies, we really appreciate the fresh ingredients and five star presentation! The sunsets overlooking the ocean From the elevated view are a dream and the specialized drinks just make for the perfect end to every day. We were able to take a brisk walk to what was basically private beach and uber 5 minutes into the city of Quepos or to the big beaches in Manuel Antonio where you can do horseback riding, parasailing or just relax on a beach chair and order a light lunch. We are already planning on coming back for our thirteenth anniversary!

2/10 Poor

Terrible Experience – Avoid at All Costs!

I wish I could give this hotel zero stars. From the moment we arrived, it was a nightmare. We found blood stains on our bath towel, which is absolutely unacceptable and disgusting. As if that wasn’t bad enough, in the middle of the night, someone tried to break into our room. It was terrifying and left us feeling completely unsafe. To make matters worse, the balcony reeked of sewage, making it impossible to enjoy any fresh air. When we raised these serious concerns with the staff, their only solution was to offer us a dinner—as if that could make up for the horrific experience we endured. I cannot stress this enough: avoid this place at all costs! It’s unsafe, unsanitary, and completely unprofessional.

The perfect weekend getaway for our last min escape from the city life. Food and drinks were fantastic, staff extremely attentive and accommodating. Can’t wait to visit again!

The view from the front of Casa Lamia is hard to beat. The first night we sat and watched the sun go down with a sailing yacht in the foreground. Breakfast was included every morning and was homemade and delicious

4/10 Fair

This place was not finished, under construction and falsely advertised as 4 stars. There was noisy construction throughout the day on Sunday it started at 7:00am. The room walls were incredibly thin, and we could hear all the restaurant conversations in the room until late at night. The water stopped running after about 30 seconds of showering. Many of the things in the hotel were cheaply made. For example, the faucet handle fell off, the curtains did not fully cover the windows, and the sheets were cheap material. The WiFi was unreliable, constantly on and off. In the morning there was no running water, and we had to brush our teeth with bottled water. When complained to the owner, she became upset. The place has nice views and great potential but the execution and management are poor.

Casa Lamia was amazing! Anthony and Brandon were great. Anthony in particular was helpful in so many ways and went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. Also, the food was unmatched by any other restaurant we ate at during our 5 days in Costa Rica. The atmosphere was inviting and I would stay again and again if I could. Highly recommend for anyone.

Beautiful restaurant and hotel. It has a fun relaxed feel. As soon as you enter you feel transported. The rooms are beautifully decorated, they are specious and have all amenities. We truly enjoyed our stay. We ended up having dinner every night at Casa Lamia since it was the best restaurant we tried in Costa Rica. The service was friendly and impeccable. The staff made you feel at home. We were waken up everyday to a delicious breakfast made by Yeimy. Our fondest memories of Costa Rica were at Casa Lamia, can’t wait to go back.

This property provided breathtaking views of the expansive sea, offering a sense of tranquility and connection to nature. The soothing sound of waves crashing against the shore was a constant companion, creating a relaxing atmosphere throughout our stay. The proximity to the ocean allowed for easy access to beach activities like swimming, snorkeling, and beachcombing. Waking up to the sight and sound of the ocean waves just steps away was a highlight of our experience. Overall, the property's prime location by the ocean made for an unforgettable and rejuvenating getaway.

6/10 Good

The property has a beautiful view and within a very short walk you reach a wonderful and almost virgin beach. Our room was spacious and had a big terrace with a view to the beautiful jungle. Guest attentiont and hospitality was poor. One night we wanted to stay in the lobby and chill with friends but the night guard turned the lights off at 10 pm. It´s a very nice and new place but don´t expect a hotel, its a bed and breakfast.
Maria, 3-night trip

Anthony and Brandon were wonderful and very hospitable. The view from the restaurant was spectacular. The food was magnificent. We had the seafood platter. The sounds of the jungle birds from the back deck were magical. We saw wild horses and iguanas everyday. I would recommend this location to anyone who wants a beautiful view, who loves nature and who is okay to be a two minute drive from the main road.
Nancy, 2-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

The staff was very helpful and gave me recommendations on how to get around town without having a car rental. There is a bus stop at the bottom of the hill which made getting to the park & beach very easy and cheap! They are still renovating some of the bungalows, which meant some noise but the place will be beautiful once it is all finished! They also had an onsite restaurant which was great, and one that was right next door if you wanted to try something different without going down the big hill to the main road.
Chris, 3-night trip

6/10 Good

Our stay at Casa Lamia was definitely not what we were expecting. I'll start with the pros: - The view from the restaurant is beautiful and the private beach (though it required a short drive plus a downhill hike) is magical. - The staff was nice and even offered us complimentary laundry service. - You can tell they put a lot of thought into the design of the rooms and restaurant area - it's unique and adds to the ambiance. The cons: - We didn't realize this but Casa Lamia is not a hotel - there's no lobby or check in area. It's just a restaurant with some rooms attached. - The day we checked in the floors of the room were seriously dirty. We took some photos of our feet after a few steps barefoot and it was intolerable. There were hairs on the toilet, in the shower, and on the sheets as well. We had to ask them to clean again, which they did the following day. - The water only works half of the time. Sometimes the toilet doesn't flush, the sink doesn't have water, and the shower doesn't either. We couldn't shower the morning of our checkout because there was no water at all. The manager just shrugged it off as "the Costa Rican experience" but we haven't seen this anywhere else. All in all we probably wouldn't come back here but wanted to write this review in case it could help anyone else when making a decision.
Maya, 3-night trip

8/10 Very good

We enjoyed our stay overall but they describe it as beach front and that is not entirely true. The view of the sunset is spectacular but it is a long walk down a rough road to a small beach. We were not happy with the smell of mold in the unit. We tried to air it out but that just allowed more humidity in. The staff were great, the food and drinks were great and they did a small amount of laundry for us at no charge.

Throw up and Human P**p

Woke up to throw up in front of our room. Later discovered human poop above our balcony. No manager on site during the entire stay. Addressed the issue to the local staff, who don’t speak English and also could not contact anyone when calling. Escalated it to Hotels.com and they also had no luck resolving it with the hotel management. Restaurant and bar in the pictures look vibrant, but empty with small menu in reality.
